A perfect adventure for experienced divers, this dive into the icy, spring bed of Silfra is particularly spectacular as the site holds some of the clearest water in the world.
Silfra is located in the lava field above the continental rift valley, between America and Europe. Plunge into the crystal clear water and glide between the tectonic crack that separates North America from Eurasia. Enjoy one dive before returning to the surface.
To take this dive, an accredited diving qualification is required. You will be provided with all the necessary diving gear and an expert diver will accompany you during the dive.
Please go through all the requirements to take part in this activity in the Please Note section below.
You will meet your guide at Þingvellir National Park and then head to the Silfra ravine to begin your diving adventure.
Upon arrival at the diving spot, wear your diving gear and listen carefully to the guide’s safety instructions before plunging into the icy waters of Silfra. By park regulations, the dive depth will be 18 metres.
Once you dive into the water, you will glide amid ancient lava formations and tectonic cracks that separated North America from Eurasia. The gentle current provides the perfect pace to explore the beautiful spring bed. Known to have the clearest water in the world, you will easily be able to see hundreds of feet under water.
After your diving experience, you will return to the surface and dry off.
