Overview

They stand open to whatever Mother Nature can throw at them. Wind or rain, sun or showers. For 5000 years they have held, and today they remain. What was their purpose? An astronomical clock or a religious temple? Well stand there, observe, take in the mystical atmosphere, and you can decide. Add another gem in the form Bath, the Roman city, and you have a tour full of history, mystery and delights. What's more, it's a private tour by car. So in-between each destination you can sit back and relax, and make sure to ask your guide plenty of questions! You'll see the stones, you'll explore the cobbled lanes of Roman Bath. You'll visit the famous Baths (although you can't take a splash!), see the Abbey and browse among the fantastic array of independent shops and cafes. It's the perfect away day.

Here’s the plan:

Your private guide, driver and car will pick you up before taking you out of the city and on to the ancient roads towards your first historical destination. Welcome to a history tour that will take you back 5000 years! Are you ready?

Your first stop is the mysterious standing stones of Stonehenge. High up on the Salisbury Plain. You'll be able to stand close to them, admire them and try to decide for yourself what their purpose was. An ancient clock or maybe a religious temple? Well, take a moment, and you can choose. Then it's onto the breathtaking city of Bath. Filled with Roman and Georgian architecture, there are plenty of sites to admire.

You'll also visit the Roman Baths, discover its history and importance to the local people. You won't take a bath, that's not allowed, but you'll get a good idea of what it was like. There's also the pump room and the chance to visit the Abbey and shops close by. All quaint independents and cute cafes.

This is a private tour, so make sure to ask them questions. That way you can really get to the bottom of some of England's great history and mysteries.
