Here, in pleasant leafy surroundings, a whole range of different animals –black buck, hippos, lemurs, meerkats, pelicans, tigers, zebras and more are waiting to meet you.
This zoo has no cages, so you can see the animals wandering freely in the open. Or in the case of some creatures – view them through acrylic screens.
The aquatic viewing areas are a big hit with all visitors. You get the chance to go nose-to-nose with sharks, manta rays and turtles and also see how animals such as hippos, penguins, and tapirs behave in the water. (Yes – tapirs can swim!).
Temaikèn Park also has state-of- the-art interpretive facilities and multi-media programs as well as plenty of activities for kids. With something for everyone, it makes the perfect family day out.
For your Buenos Aires Temaikèn Park Zoo Tour, you will be picked up from your downtown hotel in a comfortable coach. A guide will accompany you on the tour.
Temaikèn Park is a much-larger, out-of-town alternative to the Jardin Zoológico in Palermo in Buenos Aires. It is located at Belén de Escobar, a town about 45 minutes drive from downtown Buenos Aries.
This park gives shelter to more than 2200 animals, many of which come from endangered species. Temaikèn fosters research and information about wildlife, paying special attention to the preservation of local species.
Set in almost 35 hectares of land, the park provides a clean and pleasant environment with a range of habitats suited to the various animal inhabitants.
The Park is divided into four large areas: ‘Africa’, ‘Asia’, ‘Local’ and ‘Aquarium’. The first one shelters animals such as flamingos, pelicans, black bucks, lemurs, hippopotamus and zebras. In the Asian area, tigers, bats and squirrels co-exist.
The region devoted to the Argentinean fauna has two areas: the Mesopotamian, which includes caimans, tapirs, capybara and tortoises; and the Patagonian, which recreates various environments from the Andes Mountain Range to the Atlantic Coast.
Among the highlights of the tour are the aquatic viewing areas. At the aquarium, sharks and rays swim together with other native species at a few inches from visitors.
You will also be able to see the swimming skills of some creatures that spend only part of their time in aquatic habitats. Observe how animals such as hippos, alligators, penguins, tapirs and turtles behave underwater. This completely different perspective allows you to appreciate how creatures that may appear rather clumsy on land can be supremely graceful in the water.
Temaikèn Park is well laid out and much attention has been given to detail. You can stroll down pleasant paths that include large misting fans so you can cool down on hot summer days. There are also numerous places to sit and relax in the shade as well as many restaurants and snack bars to grab a quick bite (payable direct).
The Park also has state-of-the-art interactive centers with multimedia programs and provides plenty of activities for young children.
At the end of the tour you will be dropped back at the point where you were picked up.
