This delightful tour takes you to the southernmost part of Spain, to the land of sherry and fine horses.
You will visit a bodega, or wine cellar, in Jerez to discover how sherry is made and taste the excellent product.
Next, you’ll witness a display of stunning horsemanship at Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. This incredible performance is a full-fledged equestrian ballet featuring choreography adapted from classical dressage, with costumes dating back to the 18th century. Watch in wonder as the graceful Andalusian horses canter, twirl and leap in time to traditional Spanish music.
By afternoon, you will be in the seaside town of Cadiz. There will be time to explore the city and visit the magnificent baroque Cathedral.
At the start of your Sherry Tasting and Equestrian Show – Jerez and Cadiz Tour you will be picked up from your Seville hotel in a minibus or you can join the tour from Seville's city center at C/ Zaragoza, nº1, 41001 Sevilla. Accompanied by a guide, you will be driven to Jerez and Cadiz for a full-day’s sightseeing tour. The drive from Seville to Jerez will take approximately 1 hour.
Jerez is famous for production of the fortified wine known as sherry; indeed, the word ‘sherry’ is an anglicization of Jerez. Upon arriving in the city, you will visit one of its most famous wine cellars, learn the various stages of the sherry-making process, and enjoy tasting several types of sherry.
Your next stop is at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art where you will enjoy its famous show, "How Andalusian Horses Dance." Performances are held in a 1600-seat arena. After a burst of laser lights, riders dressed in 18th century country costume make their entrance to the accompaniment of flamenco music. The choreographed dances are based on both classical and country dressage, as well as other specialised riding techniques.
You then move on to Cadiz where you will have free time for lunch (payable direct) and for a guided visit to the Cathedral. This huge building topped by a yellow tiled dome was constructed in the 18th century in the high baroque style. Visitors can climb up to the roof to enjoy the views over the city to the sea. Admission to the Cathedral is not included in your tour price.
At the end of the day, you will be taken back to Seville and dropped off at your hotel at around 1830 (6:30pm).
