Escape the bustling city and explore a redwood forest before exploring scenic Sausalito during a Muir Woods & Sausalito Excursion!
Cross over the famous Golden Gate Bridge on your way to a primeval forest! See redwood trees over 200 feet tall and 1,000 years old! Walk along the picturesque trails and try to spot a black-tailed deer, gray fox, wild turkey, bobcat, or banana slug! Be sure to have your camera at the ready because these elusive creatures don’t stick around for long. You’ll have about two hours to explore this old-growth forest before continuing on your journey to beautiful, bayside Sausalito!
Nestled on the edge of San Francisco Bay, Sausalito draws visitors from around the world thanks to its quaint, small town charm, excellent shopping, and globally-recognized restaurants. Take a stroll along the waters of San Francisco Bay, do some shopping at the boutique stores, or stay for some world-class fine dining! Should you wish to stay a little longer, you can upgrade your tour to include a scenic ferry ride back to San Francisco! Sausalito is very enchanting; so, keep track of time and make sure you catch the last boat!
You can choose between a morning or afternoon start time, making the Muir Woods & Sausalito Excursion one of the most flexible things to do near San Francisco!
Your Muir Woods & Sausalito Excursion starts at either 7:30 am or 1:30 pm Get picked up at your Downtown San Francisco or Fisherman’s Wharf hotel. We will then cross the famous Golden Gate Bridge and stop for 10 minutes to take pictures of the bridge with San Francisco in the background.
On your way to the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge, see the Marina District, the Palace of Fine Arts, and the Presidio. Learn about the redwood giants while driving through Marin County.
Then, spend two hours walking in the shadows of the 200-foot Coastal Redwood trees in Muir Woods or other Coastal Redwood parks. Explore the nature trails and observe giant ferns, moss-lined creeks, and aromatic Laurel trees.
Next, spend some time exploring scenic Sausalito. Walk the bay, do some shopping, or enjoy a world-class fine dining experience. If you choose to return to your hotel by taking the ferry across the San Francisco Bay, your tour with us ends in Sausalito. Otherwise, ride with us back to San Francisco and we will drop you off at approximately 12:00 pm or 6:00 pm, depending on whether you took the morning or afternoon excursion.

Golden Gate National Recreation Area now requires advance reservations for private vehicles wishing to utilize the parking areas at Muir Woods National Monument. For the rare event that commercial parking is not available at Muir Woods, we reserve the right to arrange an alternative destination for experiencing Giant Coastal Redwoods during your Muir Woods and Wine Country Tour. For this reason tour prices do not include Muir Woods National Monument entrance fee of $10 which must be paid on the day.
The photo-op stop at the Golden Gate Bridge is dependent on weather and traffic conditions.
Although children are allowed, we do not recommend this tour for children three years of age and under.
Please call the activity operator at least 48 hours prior to start of the tour to confirm the departure details. Please reach the meeting point 15 minutes prior to the departure time.
According to California Law, we require tour guests to bring a car safety seat for all children under 8 years of age. Children under the age of 8 who are 4' 9" or taller may be secured by a safety belt and don't need a child safety seat. Failure to provide a seat for your child will result in forfeiture of seats on the tour without refund.
