Walk in the shoes of an 18th Century American immigrant!
“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door.” These words of comfort to those escaping poverty and persecution overseas have been taught in American schools since the Statue of Liberty was first gifted by France. And, during the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Cruise, you can see the Statue itself, up-close and personal!
On Ellis Island, your entrance to the Immigration Museum is already taken care of! Located in the main building of the former immigration station complex, the museum provides users with the opportunity to access the passenger records of over 51 million people in the American Family Immigration History Center. And, with at least six other interactive exhibits displaying the suitcases, trunks, and personal artefacts left behind, you may wish to use the free audio guide to make the best use of your time. Then, once you’re back to Manhattan, use our digital walking guide of the city and take advantage of $20 in discount purchases!
