Discover a spectacular part of Santander with a panoramic train tour of the Magdalena Peninsula.
Your train journey starts at the entrance to the La Magdalena peninsula. From there, it travels along the peninsula, through the scenic countryside. Enjoy informative audio commentary in Spanish about the places you pass and the history of the Magdalena Palace, which is the train’s destination at the top of the hill.
Built in the early 19th century for the Spanish Royal family, the palace was funded by popular subscription and is located on the stunning Magdalena peninsula. Enjoy gorgeous views of the beaches of El Sardinero, Mouro Island and the Cantabrian Sea.
During high season, there’s a guided tour of the outside of the palace and its surroundings, where you’ll be able to learn more about its fascinating story.
With trains arriving at a frequency of 15 to 20 minutes, you can take your time exploring the peninsula before heading back to the first stop. On the way down, the train passes three spectacular galleons of the Museo El Hombre Y La Mar and the mini-zoo.
